HISTORY:
- twins rander and annabelle goldschmidt were born in chicago, illinois twenty-one years ago to happy parents elizabeth and victor.
- victor was a lawyer in chicago, and elizabeth was basically a stay at home mom, just because they had so much money. her family had been rich, and when both of her parents died, they received a large sum via inheritance and were only doing better financially.
- rander and annabelle grew up happily and inseparably. whatever they wanted, they got, because mom and dad could afford it.
- when they started elementary school, rander and annabelle were put into different kindergarten classes, and hardly saw each other during the day. they still spent every waking minute out of class together, though.
- by the start of third grade, girls were icky and sisters were stupid, and rander hardly wanted anything to do with his sister anymore. she was gross. he spent all his time with his new friends instead.
- the rest of elementary school passed pretty uneventfully. in middle school, rander started getting into art. they were assigned a painting project during art class, and he fell in love. it was all he ever wanted to do.
- come high school, when you can pick all your own classes, and all rander wanted was to fill up his entire schedule with art classes. he had always been a well-behaved kid, and managed to squeak some extra time in there, thanks to his good behavior and grades.
- his sophomore year, rander met carley. she was this beautiful, amazing girl, and she was in his art class this year around. it was love at first sight. a few months into the school year, they started dating, falling fast for each other.
- by rander’s senior year, his parents had already decided for him that he was going to an ivy league school. they had the money, and he almost had the grades, but mostly they had the money. all rander wanted to do, though, was go to college with carley, whom his parents had never approved of. rander told his parents that they were going to get married, and just like that, they kicked their son out of the house.
- rander went to live with carley for the rest of his senior year, and she promised him that the minute they graduated, they would be together forever. they would get their own place and start classes at a community college and everything would be great.
- the day after graduation, however, that all changed. carley broke rander’s heart by suddenly eloping with another guy, running off to vegas without so much as a backwards glance.
- instead of going to his twin sister, who would have accepted him and helped him out without a second thought, rander took off. he moved out to colorado, far enough from his family and far enough from carley.
- rander spent the next few years trying to support himself and his art. he took on two steady jobs, and gets odd jobs whenever he can to this day, three years later. he’s been working on his painting and working on hopefully being able to love again.
